4 Brothers

Before you take on 4 Brothers starring Mark Wahlberg, Tyrese Gibson, Garrett Hedlung and André 3000 realize you will be forced into the action and pain that all of the brothers experience while also flinching your fist towards the bad guy's face in a few brutally jampacked scenes. It feels like a true story too. The inner struggles between family and the massive earthquake they create through an underground crime organization led by the controlling Victor Sweet serve to allow the viewer to remain excited for their blood thirsty escapades while attached to the brothers. A fun time as well for Mark Wahlberg who remains in his usual have it out for the world, and cry when nobody's looking attitude.
A legendary foster mother who has served dozens of children, just like the interracial group of brothers, was shot in cold blood one dark night. Led by the hatred for the killers, and the love and memories of their mother, the four set out to find the killer and put them down in the worst way. While showing these adventures, the movie reveals its main themes of trust and tough love while exhibiting an interesting collection of camera shots.
Concerning trust- Very early in the film we are shown the general structure of the group of men. Bobby Mercer (Wahlberg) tries to lead the group through a short path of the most destructive kind while being supported by Angel Mercer, an ex-marine who seems to have a new girl in bed with him or in his mind every few scenes. Bobby and Angel are set of course, however, by the youngest of the group, Jack or "Fairy," as Bobby calls him, and Jerry Mercer, a family guy who has other things to worry about. Each with an individual mindset, but they all seem to follow each other. That's what makes this movie a solid one. The non gushy feelings they have for each other, the strict "bro" attitude, and the constant unsettling waves of violent but somewhat funny adventures all focus on the gripping bond the brothers have it simply makes for a fresh 18+ rated film.
Talking about tough love- This theme was dominated by Bobby Mercer hands down. He loves to dominate those in the general vicinity but he never loses sight of his feelings for them. After the mother dies, Bobby exits her old room in the house they are living at while drying his tears, quickly. "You've been crying you little fairy?" Bobby taunts at Jackie, instigating somewhat of a verbal wrestling match he knows he could win. Jackie looks at him and lights his cigarette with no response. "Yea I thought so." Bobby is a bully in the critical sense, but if you were to ask Rickie, there would be nothing but exclamations of praise for his older brother. Bobby would give this praise good reason when his feelings come out in a bloody showdown between mobs of gangsters and the boys. His performance, especially in this one crucial scene, would start a riot, and that is what happens within him after a single brother is killed. Ultimately, these boys are driven by the world to deal out pain and revenge, while keeping the love they show to each other to a minimum.
A few still shots of interesting camera angles-

A few still shots of interesting camera angles-
Here we have the first time the men come back to a now empty home. This is a good view to capture the personalities of all four men as they walk in. Bobby (far left) is tough, but you can see an intense fixation on his old home. Jackie (far back is close to a full breakdown of tears, and Jerry(far right) and Angel (middle) try to move on, in fact , they hardly mention the mother again.
Here is the mother's empty chair but the same dinner the mother would have helped to prepare. Each son looks on the chair and the mother appears! Giving them anecdotes about their manners while keeping her "cool" mom vibe with open tattoos and loving, but non suffocating glances. This scene is used to show the deeper personality of the mother and reinforces what the brothers plan to do next which, otherwise, would have seemed drastic.
Be in the mood to remain focused on this film, if you choose to watch it. If the comedy doesn't make you laugh or become attached to the brothers than their awesome punishment to crime kingpins will. I recommend it to action seekers and those who like family ties.

Four Brothers is a action/drama movie based on four brothers who are actually all adopted by the same woman (Evelyn Mercer) who is murdered in the beginning of the movie. The first scene starts the movie followed up by a funeral that introduces all of the main characters and also gives the viewer good look at the city of Detroit where most of the action throughout the movie will take place. Bobby Mercer (Mark Wahlberg) who is the oldest of the brothers and the most known for violence and crime by the local cops takes charge and decides that the cops won’t solve anything and that they will have to find their mother’s killer themselves. As the movie progresses the director starts to give the viewer more of a look into the life of each brother and explains how much worse off they would have been if they were not all helped by such a nice person like their mother.
This movie is very action packed but at the same time it tells a great story and shows that even though these four men are not the same blood they are all still brothers and will do anything to bring their mother’s killers to justice even if it means risking their own lives. Even though Bobby Mercer is the main star of the movie each brother is given their time to shine and prove that they are willing to fight for the same cause. As they start to find leads and the story of why their mother was killed starts to unfold the brothers start to find out more and more about the killers and when they finally do know they hunt them down and kill them .
Finding the killers is not enough for them to feel like they have gotten justice and only starts off the story. The real hunt is for a big crime boss who ordered the hit for insurance money. As the movie starts to reveal more and more information about the murder some of the brothers start to question Jeremiah, one of the brothers, who they suspect may have had something to do with the killing.
This movie, just like the fighter, was very family based. It showed how much you might have to go through with only your family there to help you. The big difference is that in the fighter family was an obstacle that had to be overcome in order to succeed and in Four Brothers family was what was needed in order to catch their mother’s killer.
