Karate Kid

The First Karate Kid film was made in 1984, it was its years’ best hit , however, Will Smith wanted to make a comeback and add some freshness to the film; his goal was to modernize the film and put a fresh spin on it . In 2010, the movie was released and everyone was excited about it; I personally could not wait to go to the movies and watch it .The reason why is because I grew up watching Jackie Chan and I loved all his movies, so knowing that he would add some spice to the movie made me excited about the film. I was also excited because it is a karate movie. Jaden smith was the main character in the movie and I was very anxious to see how he would act in the movie; I think he did very well. I felt it was the best role for him. Karate kid opened doors of opportunities for Jaden Smith because of its success .I loved The Chinese locations included in the film, because it added visual interest; there are scenes of splendor in mountains and on the Great Wall, which was a great way for the characters to engage and get into character.
The Role of Jaden Smith was a young kid that was forced to move from Detroit to Beijing with his mom and he hated it. He met a girl named Meiying; she smiled at him when he was trying to play at the park. Meiying is a very pretty girl and her other classmates noticed that she liked him so the young kids did not like him and that led to him being bullied constantly. They would always attack him, because he could not defend himself. The story kept going on; it actually takes nearly an hour for the training montage to show up. I felt myself getting a little bored after many beatings, Mr. Han, saves him from a beating and finally agrees to teach him the secrets of Kung Fu. Training went well, very challenging at the beginning but mostly well. Just like in any fighting movie, Mr. Han goal is to train him for the Big Kung Fu tournament. While I Was watching the movie I knew that Jaden Smith was going to win the fight at the end. That is how all fighting movies end. The only moment when I felt that he might lose is when he got injured in the fight, but that still did not stop him and he refused to give up. That part makes me think of “The Fighter “The way Micky refused to give on any fight. Mickey would take hits and punches and fight till the end. I always think that it is very brave and it makes a better fighter. It is truly fascinating to watch snotty and rambunctious Dre transform into a confident warrior.
I enjoyed watching the movie, but I do feel that this movie did not have a lot of things to touch on. I still like the fact that it had different languages and different races. I also like the camera work was great especially in the fight scene; the camera would go higher on the person with most power and lower on the person with less power. During the training, it would get a close up on Dre’s face, arm or any important movement he was learning I found it very interesting. I also liked the close up on Dre and Meiying faces when they had their first kiss. It was something about that scene that made me feel like they were nervous and were not so comfortable with each other. Throughout the movies it was times when there was music it the background that distracted to me from the movie, The movies was more than two hours andI feel it could've been shorter; they could have maybe cut off some uneasy scene. All and all Will Smith did a great job of making a comeback for Karate kid . This was a well done movie with great actors.
